Functional medicine is a revolutionary approach to health that delves deep into the root causes of illness, helping to resolve complex and chronic health issues. This innovative approach takes a holistic view of the body, considering how various systems interact to influence overall health.
Unlike traditional medicine, functional medicine involves personalized treatment plans tailored to each individual’s unique needs and makeup. At the heart of this approach lies functional diagnostic testing, which considers factors like genetics, diet, hormonal changes, and other lifestyle components, providing invaluable insights into a person’s health. It also allows for earlier detection of potential health issues.
Have you been told that your labs are within normal range, yet still struggle with symptoms? There is a reason for this: These tests are not providing sufficient information. Functional diagnostic testing goes far beyond the standard tests conducted by allopathic doctors.
Functional diagnostic testing includes a detailed intake and comprehensive specialty labs to give deeper insight into how your body is functioning — and what must be done to bring balance back to your bodily systems.
What if you could finally get to the bottom of what’s going on with your health? And even more than that, what if you could have a truly personalized treatment and nutraceutical plan that you actually see results with?
With Functional Diagnostic Testing and our custom treatment protocols, you can.

“Due to several health conditions flaring up all at the same time, my nervous system went into overdrive and it felt like most of my organ systems were inflamed and malfunctioning. Western medicine offered little in the way of diagnosis or treatment except for recommending invasive testing and Big Pharma drugs which my body just couldn’t tolerate. I felt discouraged and hopeless. Enter Dr. Kim Odishoo at Plant St. Acupuncture. She really took the time to listen to me during our consultation. I felt heard and seen. Dr. Odishoo helped me to understand what was going on inside my body, and she created a detailed plan of action to facilitate healing using only natural methods and my body’s innate ability to heal. With her guidance, I changed my diet and the supplements I was taking. I committed 100% to this healing journey with weekly acupuncture sessions during the acute phase of my illness. Within 7 weeks, my nervous system was calming down and my body was finding equilibrium. I am tapering off my acupuncture visits as my healing progresses. I should be on a maintenance schedule soon. Thank you, Dr. Odishoo, for your encouragement and support every step of the way.” – LH, 5 Star Google Review
WHAT TO EXPECT WITH FUNCTIONAL TESTING
Here is what you can expect from the process:
- Intake Interview – In-depth intake
- Functional Labs – Comprehensive testing aimed at getting to the root cause of your symptoms and health issues.
- Phone Consult – A 30-minute phone call to review the results with a focus on functional ranges vs. lab reference ranges. How many times have you just been handed your results and told they are “normal” because they are color-coded green. The lab reference ranges have changed significantly over time as the population gets sicker and incidence of autoimmune, diabetes, and hormonal imbalances, etc. have increased. We use functional ranges when evaluating your labs in conjunction with your medical history. Abnormal levels are warning signs of disease and dysfunction.
- Personalized Treatment Plan – Recommendations on nutritional supplementation, dietary guidelines, and actionable next steps to achieve a healthier and happier you.
